Jess is the founding Director of Tap Dance Research Network UK which provides a space for researchers, artists, academics, and practitioners to share knowledge, information, and research around Tap Dance.

TDRN UK began as a result of the ‘Tap Dance Research Symposium’ coordinated by Jess to address an identified lack of peer review and support for Tap Dance researchers in the UK. The symposium took place in May 2019 at De Montfort University in Leicester where Jess is undertaking a practice research Ph.D.

The network now boasts a growing membership and is has an Advisory Committee of 7 other individuals that are performers, educators, artists, academics, writers, producers and often many of these at once.

TDRN UK aim to reflect a broad understanding of what research in Tap Dance is, and can be by engaging with the public, Academia, the Arts sector and cultural industries. This is achieved through holding events, presenting at conferences and festivals, publishing material and sharing information and resources through our website and social media.
